We believe a formal pond tends to be more about water than the fish or the plants. They are often devoid of plant-life and exist to mirror and enhance their surroundings. Often close to buildings or within a paved area, formal ponds tend to have strict geometric shapes. The boundaries are usually clear-cut with formal edging, and often the beds and borders align with the pool shape.
